Our Purpose in Performing

Over the last few weeks, the local newspaper has had several articles regarding student performance and school achievements. When the focus is primarily on performance and achievement, there is a flaw in the education system. Achievement is hollow and of little value without purpose.

When students continually feel the need to perform, there is never an end to the performance. The students at Pike Creek Christian perform well in many different areas. Recently we have had students place in the New Castle County Science Fair, Delaware Valley Science Fair, ACSI Music Competition, and the State National History Day competition.

The purpose for the performance was to glorify God. We can say that at Pike Creek Christian School. We can focus on God, our Creator, in Science. The hand of God is evident in history. We can praise him with our instruments and lift our voices in song because of our God.

Pike Creek Christian School exists to educate and prepare students for lives of scholastic and spiritual excellence. This is our purpose behind the performance.

November 11th is Veteran's Day. It is a day to pay tribute to those who sacrificed for our freedoms in this country. Freedoms that we often take for granted. Freedoms that allow students at Pike Creek Christian School to begin their day in prayer!

There are many schools in our country that do not have the freedom to pray to God, sing praises to His name, or talk about the Bible in class. I agree with the words of our young author...God gives us strength to regain what was destroyed. God is the turning point in the poem and in life. God leads us to peace. Without Him there is no peace. Thank you, Justin, for the reminder.

Riding the Heat Wave

The heat of the summer can be stifling. The news stations on the television and radio caution us on the ill effects of prolonged exposure to this sweltering heat and humidity. The plants in my garden would wilt and wither away if not for my daily watering.  The daily watering has allowed them to ride the heat wave.

This has been a challenging summer. The heat of change can be unsettling. The economic climate and the rumor mill can have you questioning the future. When the heat of life hits us, we need daily exposure to "living water". Psalm 1 talks about a man who "delights in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither..."

The plants in my garden will bear fruit through the heat.  Because their roots have been strengthened by the water. Our school will continue to bear fruit as it stays rooted in Christ. Be encouraged, the heat wave will not last and our roots go deep.
