Course Description

The Pike Creek Christian School Bible program strives to give the student every opportunity to understand God’s story through history, and to seek each teachable moment to help the student draw application from scripture for their everyday lives. We focus on God’s sovereignty and then discuss man’s responsibility in each section of the Bible.

During the sixth grade year we look at the big picture of God’s Word in order to better understand each individual part. Sixth grade students will be able to walk through scripture and tell the story of how God created, man fell, Israel was chosen, Israel is punished, Jesus was prophesied, Jesus came to earth, Jesus was crucified, and man is redeemed of his fallen nature through Jesus. We use the book “Route 66: Travel Through the Bible” which gives us an excellent overview of God’s story through history.

After we lay the foundation of God’s story in the sixth grade, we take the seventh grade year to focus on the person and work of Jesus Christ. We discuss the many aspects of Christology and Jesus’ miracles and teachings. In this study we emphasize Jesus as the Eternal Creator existing eternally, sustaining His creation, and redeeming His people. We use the book “The God-Man: Christ in the Gospels” which gives us a concise look into Jesus in the Gospels.

In the eighth grade, the Bible study begins focusing on how middle school students can make wise decisions. We discuss many areas of life including family, friends, freedom, responsibility, character, integrity, self control, obedience, and leadership. The eighth graders enjoy comparing and contrasting the world’s wisdom with the wisdom from scripture. We discuss the culture around us and how we can live Godly lives by making wise decisions. Our primary textbook is “Wise Up: Wisdom in Proverbs” which includes a wide range of topics that need to be addressed with today’s youth.
