Course DescriptionLanguage Arts Students will produce a variety of written communications by applying spelling strategies, grammar rules, and legible handwriting. Students will also demonstrate effective verbal communication through public speaking opportunities and attentive listening. Special Projects: Quarterly book reports which have a presentation component. A "published" memoir., Author's Day Competition: ACSI Speech Meet
Social StudiesStudents will survey the regions of the United States, explore current events, and participate in activities designed to capture the students' interest in their country and state. Special Projects: Create a Delaware board game. Field Trips: Historic Lewes, Delaware History Museum
BibleStudents will use Bible study tools to gain an understanding of Bible doctrine as well as making personal application to their daily lives. Special Projects: Baking dessert goods for Urban Promise Ministry.
MathStudents will perform basic mathematical functions and problem solving skills in addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of whole numbers, decimals and fractions. Students are introduced to basic algebra and geometry concepts. Activities: Manipulatives are used frequently. Competition: ACSI Math Olympics
ReadingStudents will demonstrate reading fluency and reading comprehension using reading strategies and vocabulary skills. Values are discussed as they pertain to the weekly selection. Activities: Reading to younger students Field Trip: Live theater performance
ScienceStudents will explore and experience God's creation in life science, physical science and earth science. Activities: Labs and demonstrations are performed frequently. In house Science Fair-electrical circuitry. Field Trips: Bombay Hook Wildlife Refuge and Franklin Science Museum
