Middle School Math | |
| Middle school mathematics is divided into 2 different tracks. We offer a grade level track and an advanced track. | |
Course DescriptionGrade LevelThe at grade level track offers instruction in numbers & operations, algebra, geometry, measurement, data analysis & probability, problem solving, and mathematical reasoning. Once a topic is presented, students will be continually exposed to the topic in the daily problem sets that follow. Students are also able to drill and practice arithmetic skills as needed. 8th grade students are enrolled in pre-algebra which reviews all arithmetic skills. They then continue with pre-algebra concepts, integers, percents, fractions, rational numbers, ratio & proportion, geometry and discrete math. The goal of this track is to prepare students for 9th grade Algebra. Advanced LevelThe advanced track offers instruction in numbers & operations, algebra, geometry, measurement, data analysis & probability, problem solving, and mathematical reasoning. Once a topic is presented, students will be continually exposed to the topic in the daily problem sets that follow. These are offered at one grade level higher than the students’ current grade. The 8th grade students will be enrolled in Algebra 1 which includes arithmetic, graphs and graphing, number sets, measurement, ratio, proportion, percent, rate, exponents and roots, geometry, functions, statistics and probability, simplifying expressions, simplifying and solving equations including linear and quadratic. The goal of this track is to prepare students for advanced math classes in the high school of their choice.
